Breaking the ice: Meet Special Division RE, Argentina
26 June 2025

The UNIBA Partners’ network is constantly evolving; new Partners join, IDMs and Senior Contacts change. Although we have the chance to see each other face-to-face, most of the time we are meeting behind our laptops. And in this online environment you might have missed a new Partner joining or a contact changing, right? Through this article-series we will make sure that that doesn’t happen anymore! In ‘Breaking the ice’ we will introduce new Partners, their specialisations, and, perhaps even more importantly, the people behind it.
In this month’s edition, we’re introducing our new Partner in Argentina, Special Division Re, a reinsurance broker, and Pablo Sanchez, Head of Facultative.
For those who didn’t have the chance to meet you just yet, can you please introduce yourself and your company?
My name is Pablo Sanchez, and I am the Head of Facultative. I’ve been with the company for over 10 years and currently lead one of the largest teams within our organization.
Special Division is a reinsurance broker founded in 2014, with the mission of delivering tailored solutions and building long-term relationships based on trust and transparency. We work closely with leading insurers and reinsurers across the region, providing a high level of technical expertise and a strong commitment to service. Our values — commitment, innovation, technical excellence, closeness, and transparency — guide everything we do. We aim to be the number one reinsurance broker in Argentina and Latin America by maintaining a strong presence in the region, anticipating market trends, and upholding the highest ethical standards.
Why is “international” important to your company? In other words, why did you decide to join UNIBA Partners?
International is essential to Special Division because reinsurance is, by nature, a global business. Having an international perspective allows us to access diverse markets, capacity, and expertise — all of which are critical to delivering the best solutions to our clients. As a company based in Argentina with a strong focus on Latin America, our strategic goal is to expand our presence across the region and build lasting relationships with international partners who share our values of professionalism, transparency, and innovation.
We see the network as an opportunity to build meaningful partnerships, exchange knowledge, and broaden our international reach. By connecting with like-minded professionals and companies, we hope to generate new business opportunities, enhance our technical capabilities, and stay ahead of industry trends. At Special Division, we value collaboration and long-term relationships. Being part of a global network like UNIBA allows us to offer more comprehensive solutions to our clients, especially in complex or cross-border cases.

How do you envision your company's contribution within the UNIBA network?
Over the next few years, we see Special Division contributing most through our deep expertise in the Latin American reinsurance market. With over a decade of experience and strong local relationships, we can offer valuable insights, particularly in facultative reinsurance and complex risk placements.
We’re also well-positioned to support UNIBA members with clients operating in Latin America, helping them navigate regional challenges with tailored solutions, cultural understanding, and strong technical support.
Additionally, we are committed to sharing best practices in innovation and operational efficiency, areas where we continue to invest and evolve. As an active member of the network, we aim to foster collaboration, co-develop business opportunities, and add value through both our market knowledge and our people.
Is there any book that inspired you, professionally or personally?
'Rich Dad, Poor Dad' inspired me because it changed the way I think about money and financial freedom. It taught me the importance of investing, thinking like an entrepreneur, and building assets instead of just relying on a salary. That mindset is what motivated me to pursue a career in the financial and brokerage industry."
On a final note, if you could have lunch with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
If I could have lunch with anyone in the world, it would be Warren Buffett. Not just because of his legendary success as an investor, but because of his long-term mindset, discipline, and ability to simplify complex financial ideas. I’d love to learn from his experiences and hear his perspective on how to stay focused and ethical in such a competitive industry.
