Breaking the ice: Meet PT Talisman Brokers, Indonesia
26 June 2025

The UNIBA Partners’ network is constantly evolving; new Partners join, IDMs and Senior Contacts change. Although we have the chance to see each other face-to-face, most of the time we are meeting behind our laptops. And in this online environment you might have missed a new Partner joining or a contact changing, right? Through this article-series we will make sure that that doesn’t happen anymore! In ‘Breaking the ice’ we will introduce new Partners, their specialisations, and, perhaps even more importantly, the people behind it.
In this month’s edition, we’re introducing our new Partner in Indonesia, Talisman, represented by their President Director and Founder, Anil Panjwani, and Director, Missi Mikoyo.
For those who didn’t have the chance to meet you just yet, can you please introduce yourself and your company?
Anil Panjwani: I’m Anil Panjwani, the President Director, and Founder of Talisman Insurance Brokers. We started operations in 2005 with a small team of 20. Today, we’re proud to say that we’ve grown to 110+ employees and are now ranked among the top ten insurance brokers in Indonesia. Our focus areas include manufacturing and mining risks, and we fully comply with local regulatory requirements—something that’s become increasingly important in our market.
Missi Mikoyo: I joined Talisman in 2018 and currently serve as Director, overseeing all technical operation (placement & claims), risk management, support functions, and corporate affairs, including international group activities. It’s been an exciting journey, and I’m proud to be part of a company that continues to grow and aims to be among the top five in Indonesia.
Why is “international” important to your company? In other words, why did you decide to join UNIBA Partners?
Anil Panjwani: In our industry, trust is paramount, and building a global network is essential to fostering and reinforcing that trust. Many of our clients are international entities operating in the manufacturing and mining sectors. Joining a network like UNIBA Partners enables us to effectively bridge the gap between global expectations and local compliance requirements. It allows us to stay informed about international developments and provide better support to our clients in navigating both global trends and Indonesian regulatory frameworks.
Missi Mikoyo: As independent brokers, going international is essential. We often compete with global giants like Marsh, and our ability to offer international insight gives us an edge. The network helps us stay globally connected and deliver added value to our clients by combining international knowledge with local expertise.

What about the other way around? Where do you see Talisman contributing to the network?
Anil Panjwani: Our key strength lies in our in-depth, on-the-ground understanding of the Indonesian market. We are well-positioned to support fellow Partners by guiding them through the complexities of local regulations, compliance requirements, and risk management practices—areas that international clients often find difficult to navigate. Our goal is to serve as the trusted local expert for any Partner engaging with clients who are entering or operating in Indonesia..
Missi Mikoyo: We’re also hoping to share and learn through meaningful collaboration. The network can benefit from our local expertise, and we’re excited to contribute to that mutual exchange. We’ve already started with a presentation on Takaaful insurance for the network and are keen to stay actively involved.
On the personal side of things, are their any books that have inspired you?
Anil Panjwani: I wouldn’t consider myself an avid reader of books, but I make it a point to begin each day by thoroughly reading the local newspaper. I also actively follow LinkedIn to stay informed about industry trends and professional developments. This routine helps me remain both well-informed and continually inspired in my daily work.
Missi Mikoyo: I enjoy reading a wide range of materials—from comics and detective stories to motivational books. One that truly inspired me is a local Indonesian book titled Attitude Is Everything, a collection of short stories with meaningful moral lessons. It really shaped my perspective on both life and work.
On a final note, if you could have lunch with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
Anil Panjwani: Warren Buffett. I deeply admire his humble demeanor and long-term investment philosophy. Despite operating in a highly complex and fast-paced world, he remains grounded, thoughtful, and consistent in his values. I would welcome the opportunity to learn from him, particularly about how to navigate complexity with wisdom while maintaining humility.
Missi Mikoyo: If I could choose anyone, living or not, I would have lunch with the Prophet Muhammad. His way of life has influenced the world profoundly, and his legacy has always fascinated me. I would love the opportunity to understand more about his worldview and the wisdom behind his actions.
