GFC was founded in 1965 by Jean-François Walbert, then a fresh 23 year-old graduate in business administration of the University of Paris, after having bought an old brokerage firm specialized in personal lines insurance.

GFC steadily developed its business in areas ranging from industrial and commercial firms to non-profit associations, municipalities, professional sport and show business. GFC and its 70 staff now service 4,700 clients throughout France and French territories, and now ranks 20th among French brokerage firms.

GFC provides clients nation-wide with full brokerage services using two different distribution channels:

- In the Paris area, GFC operates through 11 subsidiaries which are highly skilled and specialized either in a targeted professional field or in a special class of risk.

- Outside of the Paris area, a network of Province based brokers and partners with in-depth knowledge of local human and economic needs provide proximity of client service for GFC.

GFC has been developing a range of special services dedicated to help its clients and fellow partners to solve risk problems in specific areas. “Interprevoyance” provides full service in life, pension, employers benefits and various financial services.

“Inter-Courtage” has longstanding experience with liability insurance and manages tailor-made plans ranging from product liability to professional liability or errors and omission for accountants, MD and clinics, insurance brokers specialized in life and financial services, developers and credit institutions.
