Barbon Insurance Brokers is an independent insurance broker based in the Netherlands and part of the House of Risks Group. Founded in 2024, Barbon has grown rapidly into a team of more than 30 professionals serving over 200 corporate clients across multiple sectors.
Barbon’s core activities include property and casualty insurance, employee benefits, transport and logistics, and specialised risk solutions for housing corporations, municipalities, real estate, recycling and manufacturing businesses. The firm works with all leading Dutch insurers and combines insurance broking with in-house risk engineering (via JB Risicobeheer), data science and MGA capabilities (Omniguard Assuradeuren) within the group.
Inspired by Nicholas Barbon’s innovative, data-driven philosophy of the 17th century, Barbon was established to elevate risk management and broking standards. The core belief is that insurance broking should be data-driven providing clients deeper risk insights and helping insurers align risk appetite with actual data and the expertise of risk engineering of JB Risicobeheer (also part of the House of Risks Group).
Imco’s Childhood Dream
Founder and Director Imco Struiksma developed an early interest in the insurance profession, inspired by his father’s work as an insurance account manager. Already at the age of 14, he knew he wanted to become an insurance broker, driven by a fascination with understanding risks and translating them into practical solutions.
An emerging organisation distinguished by extensive expertise
Barbon’s team possesses over 500 years of collective experience, enabling the company to combine traditional market expertise with innovative, data-driven approaches. And nice to know, several previously retired team members actively contribute, reflecting their ongoing passion for the sector and commitment to Barbon’s objectives.
